Sri Lanka Traditional Dances

In past people used dances for the purpose of out with natural disasters, sickness etc… The classical dance forms are associated with the performance of various rituals and ceremonies which are based on the folk religion and folk beliefs.

These rituals and ceremonies reflect the values, beliefs and customs of an agricultural civilization of Sri Lanka. Kanadian Dancing, Sabaragamuwa dance, Pahata Rata dance, Wes dances, Wanni dances & Mask Dances are some of the example for the Famous Traditional Dances.

Geta Bere, Yak Bere, Davula are famous music instruments which are using for these traditional dances.
